NOKIA, Finland (June 24, 2010) — Nokian Tyres P.L.C. has laid off 56 employees, 19 permanently, at its plant in Nokia.
The tire maker said negotiations with workers at the factory ended June 21, and the cuts were then instituted. The reductions balance the facilities production with its shift system, according to the firm.
The plant produces passenger, light truck, truck and bus, off-the-road and industrial tires, and employed an estimated 1,000 workers.
