PARIS (April 29, 2010) — Group Michelin has developed a range of ultra-high performance SUV tires for the Porsche Cayenne.

The lineup includes three fuel efficient tire models: the Latitude Tour HP touring tire; Latitude Sport; and Latitude Alpin winter performance tire. Each model displays a special N marking on the sidewall, certifying its compliance with Porsche quality standards, according to Michelin.

The Latitude Tour HP, featuring a Green X label on its sidewall, is available in sizes 255/55R18 109V and 265/50R19 110V. Michelin said it was designed for low rolling resistance, high mileage and reduced weight. It features a new tire casing designed to limit heat build-up and in turn reduce fuel consumption by 0.2 to 0.4 liters per 100 kilometers.

Michelin said the Latitude Sport, which is available in sizes 255/55R18 109Y, 275/45R20 110Y and 295/35R21 107Y, was designed to deliver better handling on dry surfaces, enhanced safety—due in particular to wet and dry braking ability—and improved energy efficiency.

The tire's tread is reinforced by a nylon belt banded at zero degrees to the tire's rotation in order to maintain control over the contact patch at high speed. The belt also features variable pitch technology to resist deformations with pinpoint accuracy.

The Latitude Alpin, available in size 255/55R18 109V, was “purpose-designed for high-performance SUVs” to provide optimal handling and grip on cold roads, whether they are dry, wet, icy or snow-covered, Michelin said. It features the tire maker's Helio Compound rubber mix, which contains sunflower oil, improves performance on wet surfaces and optimizes handling on snow-packed surfaces.
