NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 27, 2010) — Bridgestone Americas Inc. and Tokyo-based Bridgestone Corp., have donated more than $120,000 to assist with relief efforts in Chile following the Feb. 27 earthquake there.
Bridgestone Americas donated $50,000 to the relief efforts through Fundación Imagina, a program that helps rebuild damaged classrooms across the country.
Bridgestone Corp. donated about $32,000 through the Embassy of Chile in Japan.
Bridgestone Chile S.A., an operating unit of Bridgestone Americas, contributed more than $40,000 worth of toys, backpacks and school supplies to the Boy Scouts of Chile.
“The damage in Chile is vast, but the people's will to rebuild and prosper is strong,” said Humberto Gomez, president, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, Latin America. “The Bridgestone Group is committed to supporting the country's relief efforts by helping rebuild classrooms and providing necessary supplies to help Chile's next generation of leaders—its young students—succeed.”
