HARRISBURG, N.C. (April 19, 2020) — Carlisle Companies Inc.'s Cragar wheels business is sponsoring Competition Race Parts Inc.'s (CRP) entry in this year´s Sports Car Club of America's World Challenge GT Championship.
CRP's entry, a Chevrolet Corvette C6, is being driven by veteran road-course racer Ron Fellows, who counts among his accomplishments three class championships in the American Le Mans Series and two class wins in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Carlisle will use the sponsorship to promote the Cragar, Black Rock and ITP wheel brands and ITP Off-Road and Carlisle trailer tire brands, according to CRP Racing.
“Partnering with CRP and Ron Fellows is an extension of our commitment to the performance and motorsports industry,” said David Roberts, chairman, president and CEO of Carlisle.
“Our Cragar wheel brand was the wheel of choice by many of the top names in motorsports in the past and we look forward to rekindling that preference…. I think the association with CRP Racing will allow us to accomplish our goals.
“In addition,” he added, “many of our employees are racing enthusiasts and successful amateur racers. Sponsoring CRP Racing is a natural fit for us and allows our products and people to be involved in motorsports.”
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Mr. Fellows' first race with CRP was at last weekend's Long Beach Grand Prix, where he finished 21st after his car suffered a mechanical failure.
Harrisburg-based CRP is involved in race car preparation and trackside engineering. Its services include custom fabrication, restoration, rebuilds/remanufacturing, CAD engineering, design engineering, wind tunnel models, etc.
