LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 29, 2010) — Hankook Tire America Corp. has launched a deep-tread long-haul drive-axle tire, the DL07, aimed at smaller fleets and owner-operators.
Available now in size 285/75R24.5 (14PR), Hankook said it will be expanding the lineup by three sizes, 11R22.5, 11R24.5 and 295/75R22.5, by the third quarter.
Engineered with Hankook's e3 technology (Energy, Economy and Environment), the DL07 is designed to deliver improved traction and performance for line-haul applications in all weather conditions. The tire is not verified for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's SmartWay energy-efficiency program.
“We recognize that in these tough economic times, return on investment and cost per mile (are) crucial within the commercial tire industry,” said Brian Sheehey, director of commercial tires for Hankook, who noted the DL07 delivers value and increased fuel efficiency backed by one of the industry's best commercial tire warranties and at a price that's lower than the competition.
Hankook claims the advanced tread design and carcass construction provide for even wear patterns, equal weight/torque distribution and reduced heat buildup, which allow for increased fuel efficiency. Designed for line-haul vehicles, the DL07 uses wider and deeper, four channel zigzag grooves with enhanced stone ejector platforms to prevent stone drilling on the groove bottom and maximize removal mileage, Hankook said.
The tire debuted at the just-concluded Mid-America Truck Show in Louisville.
