NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 25, 2010) — Bridgestone Americas has promoted Christine Karbowiak to the newly created position of chief administrative officer, effective April 1.
Ms. Karbowiak, Bridgestone's executive vice president of community and corporate relations, will retain her current responsibilities and also take on responsibility for the Nashville-based tire maker's environmental affairs, internal audit, safety and industrial hygiene and corporate security functions.
Ms. Karbowiak joined Bridgestone's retail operations unit in 1992 as senior counsel and a year later advanced to the position of assistant general council. She moved on to hold positions as division general counsel and vice president of public affairs, and in 2009 she became the first woman to join the Bridgestone Americas board of directors, where she still serves.
“Christine is a proven and trusted performer at Bridgestone Americas,” said Gary Garfield, CEO and president of the company. “With her strategic vision, creativity and excellent problem-solving skills I am very confident that she is the right leader to manage these important functions for Bridgestone Americas.”
