FULLERTON, Calif. (March 19, 2010) — Yokohama Tire Corp. (YTC) has introduced the ADVAN ENV-R2 orange oil-infused racing slick tire, replacing the ENV-R1 it debuted in 2009.
The new tire “is faster, grips better and has even more orange oil and natural rubber” than its predecessor, said Mark Chung, Yokohama's director, corporate strategy and planning.
While the ENV-R1 had 15 percent natural content, Yokohama said the ENV-R2—the official spec tire of the Patron GT3 Challenge and American Le Mans Series (ALMS) GT3 Challenge Class races—increases that to 20 percent.
Yokohama's proprietary orange oil technology combines orange oil with natural rubber to form a compound the tire maker calls Super Nano-Power Rubber, which the company claims is more environmentally friendly than standard racing slicks.
