Bridgestone taps Nicastro counsel
NASHVILLE, Tenn.Bridgestone Americas named Chris Nicastro to the post of vice president, general counsel, chief compliance officer and secretary.
Mr. Nicastro, who was general counsel for Bridgestone Americas Latin American Operations, and Bridgestone Americas' corporate compliance officer, replaced Gary Garfield, who was recently named CEO and president, replacing Mark Emkes, who is retiring from the Nashville-based company.
In his new role, Mr. Nicastro is responsible for overseeing the legal and compliance functions of the company.
Before joining Bridgestone in 2008, Mr. Nicastro had eight years of experience in corporate compliance and ethics with Yasaki North America Inc. and four years of litigation experience with Marconi Data Systems Inc.
After receiving his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan Law School, he served as a law clerk in a U.S. District Court.
Parts distributor adds senior v.p.
MEMPHIS, Tenn.The Automotive Distribution Network (ADN) named David Prater, previously vice president of product, to the newly created position of senior vice president.
Promoting David to this new position is an important step for the Network as we continue to grow with our mergers, acquisitions and strategic alliances, said President Mike Lambert.
ADN operates Parts Plus, IAPA, Auto Star, Auto Pride, CMB Marketing, and Network Products.
Mr. Prater started in the accounting department at Parts Plus in 1984 and became director of product in 1995. In 2008 he briefly left the organization to become president of CMB Marketing, which became a part of the ADN in 2009.
Conti taps Charity natl. sales manager
FORT MILL, S.C.Continental Tire the Americas L.L.C. has named Chris Charity national sales manager-dealer channel in the U.S. for the Passenger and Light Truck Tire Division.
Mr. Charity will be responsible for directing, managing, training and supervising the dealer field sales force. He also will manage and oversee the development of new business and the growth of existing accounts within the U.S.
Mr. Charity previously served as national sales manager, automotive aftermarket for Continental Tire. He replaces Tom Colelli, who is retiring after 43 years with Conti.
MATT's Baldwin joins freight council
GREENVILLE, S.C.Don Baldwin, business segment manager for Michelin Americas Truck Tires (MATT), has been named to the board of directors for the North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE).
Mr. Baldwin, one of 19 original founders of NACFE, is the only tire manufacturer representative on the board, which met for the first time in February during the Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) meeting in Tampa, Fla.
The council's goal is to collect, assess and circulate performance information from testing agencies and laboratories; collect marketing and user data; and provide up-to-date efficiency information to share with technology developers, council members, fleet owners and truck drivers.
As a board member, MATT said Mr. Baldwin's primary functions are to guide the organization in those areas.
At Michelin Mr. Baldwin is responsible for evaluating market trends and specifying the technologies and tire lines that will be developed to meet future customer needs.
Mr. Baldwin has worked for Michelin North America Inc. for more than 30 years in various manufacturing, quality, product design and marketing positions.
He is a 1974 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering.
Ex-BATO training exec joins DSP 20
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.Paul Chizeck, retired Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations L.L.C. director of consumer tire education, has joined Dealer Strategic Planning (DSP) Inc.
DSP said Mr. Chizeck will assist in managing the company's growing number of so-called tire dealer 20 groups and provide a resource for dealer training and education. His 34-year background in the tire industry includes store management, retail marketing, promotional support programs and various training and education responsibilities.
DSP Twenty Group was co-founded by Stu Zurcher, tire store owner and director on two industry associations, and Norm Gaither, a tire industry financial consultant.
Adding Paul's credentials to our business will help fulfill our goal to continually add value and fresh content for our dealer members, Mr. Gaither said, noting that Mr. Chizeck is highly respected among his dealers for providing consumer tire education programs and training designed to help them compete more effectively in today's retail tire market.
