MADISON, Ind. (Feb. 24, 2010) — Dover Corp.'s Rotary Lift business is giving away a SmartLift inground vehicle lift to mark the occasion of the product´s 15th anniversary and production of the 50,000th unit of what it terms an “environmentally friendly” lift.
Rotary Lift will support the contest with a “Proven 15/50” campaign, that will highlight the distinct features of the lift series. The contest information values the giveaway at $6,700.
“When Rotary Lift introduced the SmartLift in 1995, it was the first fully contained, modern inground lift…,” said John Podczerwinski, general manager, North and South America for Dover's Vehicle Service Group (VSG).
Prior to the introduction of the SmartLift, Rotary said, inground lifts carried the risk of leaking hydraulic fluid underground. Rotary addressed this concern by enclosing all of the SmartLift's underground components in a polymer composite housing made from recycled materials.
The containment unit protects the environment from any potential leaks, while at the same time protecting the lift itself from corrosion and electrolysis, Rotary said. The SmartLift uses less than five gallons of hydraulic fluid vs. 62 gallons required by traditional inground lifts, according to the company. Bio-fluid can be used in place of petroleum-based hydraulic fluid.
SmartLift inground lifts can be installed in bays that are as narrow as 11 feet wide, while two-post surface lifts need 12-foot bays, Rotary said.
This construction feature gives a shop the option of fitting more lifts into a given space or reducing the shop size by as much as 15 percent, Rotary said, thereby offering a potential saving on upfront construction costs.
SmartLift inground lifts can be equipped with two- or three-stage arms or moveable pads, three-position flip-up adapters, polymer screw-up adapters, pad adapters, stackable adapters and drive-on runways, Rotary said, as well as in twin- and single-post models with lifting capacities ranging from 8,000 to 12,000 lbs.
