BETHLEHEM, Pa. (Feb. 22, 2010) — Service Tire Truck Centers (STTC) is looking to cut its energy usage and carbon footprint by replacing all lights and fixtures in its 38 locations with fluorescent fixtures.
To effect the change, STTC said it is partnering with Aelux L.L.C., a Jenkintown, Pa.-based energy audit and services firm.
STTC, a Bethlehem-based commercial tire dealership, claims the initiative will reduce its carbon emissions by nearly 3.1 million pounds—equal to removing 271 cars from the roads or planting more than 4,700 trees every year.
STTC said it's partnering with Aelux because of Aelux's focus on providing the most energy-efficient lighting system for the most desirable level of light. This approach results in a better lighting system using the lowest amount of energy and the fewest number of lamps and ballasts, the dealership said.
STTC operates 38 locations throughout eight states, making it an ideal candidate for the national service Aelux provides.
“Aelux exceeded all of our expectations at every level,” said Walter Dealtrey, STTC's COO, secretary and treasurer. “Their highly professional approach not only produced the savings we wanted, and the light we needed, but the lowest possible carbon footprint.”
STTC did not comment on the potential financial savings.
