WINDSOR, Conn. (June 19, 2009) — Internet/mail order tire marketer Tire Rack has a warehouse distribution center under construction in Windsor that is slated to open later this summer, its second center along the Eastern Seaboard and sixth center nationwide.
Tire Rack earlier this year commissioned the building of a 300,000-plus-sq.-ft. warehouse in Windsor's New England Trade Port and signed a 10-year lease on the property, according to the developer of that project, Griffin Land & Nurseries Inc.
Tire Rack declined to comment on the project other than to say it should be open by September.
Financial disclosure information posted by Griffin Land on the Securities and Exchange Commission Web site shows Griffin arranged for $12 million in financing for the project and that Tire Rack has an option to expand the facility to 450,000 square feet.
The Web site thejobnetwork.com had a posting in May for a manager for the center. That posting lists the site's opening as late summer 2009.
New England Tradeport is a 600-acre industrial park near Bradle International Airport.
Tire Rack's other warehouses are in New Castle, Del.; Midway, Ga.; Shreveport, La.; McCarran, Nev.; and at the firm's headquarters in South Bend, Ind. The New Castle location is listed under Tire Rack's fleet program.
