JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (April 30, 2009) — The Missouri House of Representatives has removed language from an omnibus transportation bill that would essentially have destroyed periodic vehicle safety inspections in the state.
SB 58 contained language that would have exempted vehicles from safety inspections for their first 10 years of use.
Robert L. Redding, Washington representative for the Automotive Service Association (ASA), thanked members for heeding the association's call to write their legislators opposing the anti-inspection language. “This should be an example to repairers in other states that speaking up does have value in the political process,” Mr. Redding said.
