SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (April 3, 2009) — Discount Tire Co. Inc. opened 10 stores during February and March — including three in Oklahoma — expanding the dealership's network to 743 stores in 21 states.
In Oklahoma Discount opened two stores in Oklahoma City and one in Moore, bringing to five the number of stores in that state, where Discount's first store opened last September.
The other new stores are in: Hobbs, N.M.; St. Paul, Minn.; Queen Creek, Ariz.; Kissimmee, Fla.; Copperas Cove, Texas; Batavia, Ill.; and Fountain Valley, Calif.
The new stores range in size from 6,000 to 10,700 square feet, with seven of the 10 occupying 7,000 square feet, Discount said. The company describes its prototype store as 7,000 square feet, including a 1,300-sq-ft. showroom, with six service bays and a 3,500 unit inventory capacity.
All of the new locations follow Discount's policy of being open six days a week: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
These recent openings follow three new stores opened in January. Discount did not disclose the size of its investment in the new stores.
