GREENVILLE, S.C. (Jan. 29, 2009) — Michelin North America Inc. on Jan. 28 presented six local charities with a check for $108,000 that was raised during the Michelin Pro-Am Charity golf tournament in October.
The charities that benefited from the tournament were Camp Opportunity, Clement's Kindness Fund for the Children, Hispanic American Women's Association, Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund, Lapsits for Early Literacy and the Upstate Fatherhood Coalition.
In the 19 years since the Michelin Pro-Am Charity tournament began, it has raised more than $1.5 million for local charities, Michelin said.
“Michelin's commitment to the Greenville community comes from our core value of respect for people,” said Herb Johnson, director of community relations, Michelin. “Our suppliers understand and support this commitment, which allows this tournament to support organizations that are making a significant impact on the children and youth in our community.”
