WASHINGTON (Jan. 29, 2009) — Michelin North America Inc. is voluntarily recalling 784 Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2 ZP tires, size 225/50R17 94H, for mislabeling.
Produced between Sept. 17, 2006 and June 14, 2008, the tires lack the Department of Transportation symbol on the tire identification numbers.
“Without the DOT symbol on the sidewall, the tire contains no declaration as to its certification,” according to a notice about the recall from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Michelin began notifying customers this month about the recall, and it will replace the tires free of charge.
