HANOVER, Germany (Jan. 26, 2009) — Continental A.G.'s Rubber Group top executive, Alan Hippe, is leaving Conti for a position on the supervisory board of German steel and machinery maker ThyssenKrupp A.G.
Mr. Hippe, a seven-year veteran of Conti and head of the Rubber Group since its inception last year, asked Conti's supervisory board on Jan. 24 to be released from his duties at Conti, effective Feb. 28, in order to move to his new job.
Hamburg-based ThyssenKrupp said Mr. Hippe, 42, will join its executive board of directors on April 1, taking responsibility for controlling, accounting/financial reporting, taxes, customs, mergers/acquistions and materials management.
A member of Conti's executive board since 2002, Mr. Hippe has headed Conti's North American tire operations since June 2005, helping return them to profitability in 2007 after numerous years of heavy losses. He has been responsible for the passenger and light truck tire division since April, and in September he was appointed vice chairman of the executive board.
Conti said Mr. Hippe's successor will be appointed in the coming weeks.
