AKRON (Nov. 19, 2008) — Longtime Goodyear public relations staff member David Wilkins died Nov. 2 after a short battle with cancer. He was 52.
Mr. Wilkins was a 20-year Goodyear employee known for his quirky but subtle sense of humor. Most recently he handled the tire maker's truck, OTR, aviation and Dunlop-brand tires as well as its “Highway Heroes” program that feted truckers who had performed heroic, often lifesaving actions while on the road.
“Dave's friendly personality always made everyone feel welcome,” said Jim Davis, another member of Goodyear's public relations staff. “His upbeat spirit and genuine concern for others made a lasting impression on everyone he touched.”
Mr. Wilkins is survived by his wife Lori; son Ben and daughter Julianne; mother Beverly; and brother Barry. Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
