NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 12, 2008) — Bridgestone/Firestone's (BFS) Consumer OE Tire Sales division will team with Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County in Michigan to construct a home for a local family in need.
Nashville-based BFS said it will participate in Habitat for Humanity's 2008 Build Blitz, running June 13-28. Company volunteers will spend a day helping to build one of four new homes in southeast Pontiac, Mich.
The tire maker has already helped construct six new homes in the Pontiac area since 2002 through combined volunteer efforts and financial support. Company volunteers have donated more than 1,000 hours of their time to saw lumber, pound nails and paint, among other activities.
“It is rewarding to see how dramatically the quality of life can improve for families with the completion of their new home,” said Michael Martini, president, Consumer OE Tire Sales. “It's certainly an experience worth repeating year-after-year.”
