DETROIT (June 5, 2008) — Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire L.L.C. will be a sponsor of the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology's (DIO) 2008 EyesOn Design Automotive Design Show for the seventh straight year.
The event will benefit the DIO's programs in research, education and support for the visually impaired and blind.
The fundraiser will be held June 15, on the grounds of the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich.
In the past, the exhibit has showcased stock cars, hot rods and open-wheel racers.
“That we're able to enjoy the striking lines and elegant contours of the world's finest automobiles is a privilege we take for granted,” said Michael Martini, president of consumer tire sales. “The DIO is a remarkable organization that makes a difference in so many lives.”
The sponsorship is the initiative of Brigestone/Firestone's original equipment tire division, which is based in Detroit. The company recently renewed its commitment to the fundraiser for five more years.
