NORWELL, Mass. (April 10, 2008) — The New England Tire & Service Association (NETSA) will posthumously induct Robert J. Sullivan, founder of Sullivan Tire Co. Inc., into its hall of fame April 12.
Mr. Sullivan, who died in 1992, started Norwell-based Sullivan Tire in 1955 as a one-shop dealership in Rockland, Mass. More than 50 years later, the family-owned company has expanded to 75 wholesale, commercial and retail locations in the New England area.
“It's been a long and rewarding journey for our family, and it's an honor to see my father recognized as an industry leader by NETSA,” said Paul Sullivan, vice president of marketing for Sullivan Tire. “His business model was built on people, and for this reason we have thrived through the emergence of mass merchandisers, the computerization of the automobile and sadly, the passing of Bob Sullivan himself.”
NETSA, an automotive service and tire industry association, has been in operation in the New England area since 1952, providing information and training and offering other benefits to local businesses.
