A solution to reader's speed rating problem
I'm writing in response to Jermaine Jamison's letter to the editor in the Nov. 19 issue of Tire Business in which he asked why ``the powers that be (do) not make an H-rated highway all-season passenger car tire?''
Mr. Jamison, owner of Custom Wheels & Tires in York, Pa., also wondered why all 20-inch tires for passenger cars are Z rated by tire manufacturers and what car-other than a Lamborghini or some such exotic-``can do 149-plus mph with 20-inch heavy wheels and tires?''
I have a solution: Try Goodyear Eagle GT-HR, Goodyear Eagle RSA, Goodyear Eagle LS, Goodyear Assurance TripleTred, Goodyear Assurance ComforTred, Yokohama Mirada Sport GTX and the private brand Vanderbilt touring tires made by Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. and other companies. All are available with an H speed rating.
