LAS VEGAS (Oct. 31, 2007) – Michelin North America Inc., drawing on its racing heritage and recent motorsports successes, will launch six run-flat sizes of its Pilot Sport 2 ultra-high-performance tire next summer aimed exclusively at owners of Chevrolet Corvettes.
Michelin disclosed the product line expansion at a reception held Oct. 30 at its booth at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas.
The new sizes are: 245/45ZR17 95Y Pilot Sport 2 ZP and 275/40ZR18 99Y Pilot Sport 2 ZP for the C5 Corvette; 245/40ZR18 93Y Pilot Sport 2 ZP and 285/35ZR19 99Y Pilot Sport 2 ZP for the C6 edition; and 275/35ZR18 95Y Pilot Sport 2 ZP and 325/30ZR19 101Y Pilot Sport 2 ZP for the C6 Z06.
The new sizes draw on Michelin's status as tire supplier for the Corvette team that has won the GT1 class in the American Les Mans Series the past several years.
Michelin's booth at SEMA focuses on Michelin's self-proclaimed dominance across three specific segments: track, tuner and street. On display are an array of racing and high-performance street vehicles, including Audi's R10 TDI, APR R8 and an R8 sports car; Porsche's DHL Penske RS Spyder, Champion Racing Porsche and the 911 GT3RS; Corvette's C6.R race car and Lingenfelter Z06.
“Michelin's 2007 SEMA display demonstrates our pre-eminent position when it comes to providing tires for high-performance vehicles from the track to the street,” said Parmeet Grover, brand director for Michelin North America.
