Simi Valley police are trying to piece together a motive for a shooting at a local tire dealership that left two dead and the store's owner and an employee wounded.
Robert Becerra, 29, walked into the Simi Valley Tire Pros tire outlet at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 9, shot a female customer in the front of the store then opened fire on other employees, Sgt. David Livingstone of the Simi Valley Police Department told Tire Business. Mr. Becerra then killed himself, Sgt. Livingstone said.
The customer, Susan Sutcliffe, 53, was killed and dealership owner Henry Heeber IV and employee Albert Ramirez were injured, sustaining gunshot wounds to the arm and abdomen, respectively. Sgt. Livingstone said both men are recovering in the hospital where they are listed in stable condition and expected to recover.
As of Oct. 18, police had found no connection between Mr. Becerra and the dealership either as a customer or employee. There also is seemingly no connection between him and the female customer killed.
``We're dealing with the suspect's family and friends and trying to determine his state of mind when this happened,'' Sgt. Livingstone said.
AmPac Tire Distributors Inc. runs the Tire Pros marketing program, which includes about 300 tire stores nationwide.
