LAVERGNE, Tenn. (Sept. 24, 2007) — Hennessy Industries Inc. has introduced a tire changer and a wheel balancer to its Coats product line.

The new tire changer, the APX80 A/E Rim Clamp, is designed to service both standard and larger tires easily, including high-performance tires and wheel assemblies, Hennessy said. It has clamping capacity of 9 to 30 inches external and 11 to 32 inches internal.

The APX80 also has upgrade options to make servicing large diameter, run-flat and low-profile tires easier, Hennessy said.

The Coats 1250-3DV balancer is designed for ease of use, the company said, and is ideal for both experienced and entry-level technicians. Engineered for front-line, high-volume shop duty, the new balancer has an embedded, commercial-grade LCD flat screen that provides a live demonstration of every step in the balancing process.

The 1250-3DV balancer has a three-dimensional automatic data-entry and laser-guided weight placement for fast and accurate results, Hennessy said. Additionally, the machine is built around Coats' patented Direct Drive technology that uses the motor's main shaft, not pulleys or belts that wear or slip.

The 1.5-horsepower system reaches balancing speed quickly and coasts during measurements, the firm said.

“Today's new vehicles have larger wheels and special applications that are difficult to service with older balancers,” said Don Vanderheyden, Hennessy's group marketing manager for wheel service solutions. “In addition, the increased use of hidden tape-weight balancing demands newer technology and custom balancing techniques. The 1250-3DV was designed to help address those issues.”
