CLEVELAND (Sept. 13, 2007) — Italian car maker Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. has awarded Alcoa Wheel Products the exclusive original equipment wheel contract for its latest supercar, the V12-powered Murcielago Reventon unveiled at this week's IAA International Motor Show in Frankfurt, Germany.
Lamborghini plans to make only 20 Reventons, which will sell for nearly $1.4 million each. The mid-engined, all-wheel-drive two-seater is powed by a 650-hp V12. The car's styling was inspired by the Lockheed Martin F-22 jet fighter, and Reventon is the name of a legendary Mexican bull from the 1940s.
Alcoa will supply directional-specific, five-spoke 18x9 front and 18x13 rear wheels forged from one piece of 6061-T6 aluminum. The wheels are finish coated in Lamborghini Bright Black and fitted with carbon fiber “winglets” that complement the overall appearance of the vehicle, Alcoa said.
The car shown at Frankfurt was fitted with Pirelli P Zeros, size 245/35ZR18 front and 335/30ZR18 rear.
