CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 31, 2007) — American Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD) has reached an agreement to buy Jim Paris Tire City of Montebello Inc., giving ATD reach over all of Colorado.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Jim Paris Tire operated two wholesale distribution centers and two retail stores, ATD said. The retail outlets are not included in this purchase. The acquired distribution centers are in Denver and Grand Junction, Colo., and serve about 1,500 customers.
“Jim Paris Tire is a premier tire distributor in its geographic area,” said Richard Johnson, chairman and CEO of ATD. “They have built a solid business based on strong management, efficient operations and, most important, an unwavering commitment to customer service.”
The dealership was founded in the 1960s by James M. Paris. His son, James T. Paris, took primary ownership in 1979 and worked to build one of the largest tire and wheel distribution networks in Colorado. He died last October.
Dealership officials were not immediately available for comment.
