LAS VEGAS (Jan. 24, 2007) — German car maker Audi A.G. has selected the Pirelli P Zero as original equipment for its R8 mid-engine, two-seat, all-wheel-drive supercar.
The OE fitment is size 235/35ZR19 for the front and 295/30ZR19 for the rear axle, Pirelli said.
Powered by a 4.2-liter, 420-hp V8, the R8 is capable of 187 mph top speed and 0-60 mph acceleration in 4.6 seconds. The car will sell for about $120,000, according to Audi.
The car recently was presented to the media in Las Vegas and was on display at the recent North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It is expected in dealers' showrooms this fall.
Pirelli said the P Zeros on the R8 feature the latest Pirelli technological innovations, which the company will discuss in greater detail at a launch scheduled for February in Dubai.
Audi's selection of the P Zero for the R8 reinforces Pirelli's relationship with the car maker, said Maurizio Boiocchi, head of Pirelli Tyre S.p.A. research and development.
Pirelli is OE on a number of other Audi models as well, he noted.
