LAS VEGAS (Nov. 2, 2006) — Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. is expanding its lineup of Extended Run-flat Performance (XRP) tires with the addition of the Ecsta SPT XRP.
Kumho is adding 13 sizes of run-flat tires to its SPT line of ultra-high-performance tires, with five sizes to be launched Nov. 15. The SPT XRP enables a driver who experiences a loss of tire air pressure to get his or her vehicle to a place where the tire can safely be changed or repaired, Kumho said. The SPT XRP is designed to be driven up to 50 miles at 50 mph with no air in the tire.
It will be available in the first quarter of 2007 in 13 sizes ranging from 195/55R16 to 245/45ZR18.
Kumho also announced other new tires that will be available during the first quarter. The Solus KR21, a mid-level broadline tire, will replace Kumho's 795 and 732 lines. It comes with an 80,000-mile warranty and a UQTG rating of 640. The tire will compete with the Goodyear Integrity and the Toyo Spectrum.
The Road Venture APT, an all-season, performance SUV tire, also will be available during the first quarter in P-metric sizes, while LT-metric sizes will be launched mid-year 2007.
Kumho said it also is ready to bring to the market its Ecsta DX Aroma tire, which was displayed at last year's SEMA Show as a concept tire. The tire, which comes with a lavender scent, will be targeted to women who drive sedans such as the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and Ford Taurus as well as Infiniti and Lexus vehicles.
The Ecsta DX Aroma tire will be available in the first quarter in three sizes: 205/60R16, 215/60R16 and 235/60R16.
