CLEVELAND, Tenn. (Oct. 11, 2006) — A Cleveland tire dealer has pleaded guilty to 36 counts of sales tax fraud.
Andrew W. Thompson Jr., president of Cleveland Tire Center Inc., was charged in October 2005 with failure to report nearly $1.3 million in tire sales, thus not paying the Tennessee Department of Revenue nearly $106,000 in due taxes between Jan. 1, 2000 and Dec. 31, 2002.
Mr. Thompson was ordered to pay full restitution, plus interest and civil penalties, and placed on three years' probation, according to the Department of Revenue.
