Brake lathe
Hennessy Industries Inc. is offering a new brake lathe, the Ammco 4000B-SP.
The lathe is designed for speed, aimed at helping shops turn around standard work faster. It can switch from drums to rotors in less than 30 seconds, the company said, and the twin-cutter tool simultaneously resurfaces both sides of a rotor. It cuts to one-thousandth of an inch.
The unit also features a 44-pound spindle, extra large bronze bearings with a constant oil feed and larger drive gear for durability.

Wheel balancer
Hunter Engineering Co. has debuted its GSP9200 wheel balancer.
The unit combines fast, accurate balancing with a cost-effective design, the company said. It includes an LCD interface that communicates balancing results clearly with color graphics. SmartWeight balancing technology provides superior balancing results while minimizing the amount of wheel weights needed to correct an imbalance and reducing the time needed to perform the service, the company said.
The tool's ServoDrive programmable drive system rotates the wheel in either direction at variable speeds and torque, Hunter said, providing control for precise weight placement and a fast balance. The system can be activated automatically by touching a button or pushing the wheel to rotate, stop or hold the wheel at a position for correct wheel weight placement.

Tire pressure monitor
Aviation Upgrade Technologies Inc. has unveiled the Air Alert Valve Cap to signal drivers of a loss of tire pressure.
The unit features a one-size-fits-all cap that fits over each valve stem. A red light alerts drivers when the tire pressure drops by at least 4 psi and the valve cap will blink brightly until pressure is brought back to proper levels. The self-calibrating cap is easy to install and requires no maintenance, the company said.
The devices retail for $24.99 for a set of four.

Nitrogen inflation
Parker Hannifin Corp. recently introduced its Balston Monobed nitrogen generation system.
It produces up to 99.99-percent pure compressed nitrogen from nearly any compressed air supply, the company said. The generators are designed to transform compressed air into nitrogen at safe, regulated pressures without operator attention.
The generator includes an oxygen analyzer to monitor oxygen concentration of the nitrogen stream and features an audible alarm that signals high or low oxygen concentrations.

Tire changer
Hennessy Industries Inc. has launched its Coats 5040 A/E Rim Clamp tire changer, which can service tire and wheel assemblies up to rim diameters of 21 inches.
Available in air or electric drive, it has an X-shaped turntable with an external clamping range of 10 to 21 inches.
Protection accessories prevent metal-to-metal contact, while pedal controls allow more careful tire mounting, the company said. Controls on the unit are placed for stationary work to reduce reaching, walking or bending by a technician.
