ASA taps Easton to keynote CARS
BEDFORD, Texas-The Automotive Service Association (ASA) has selected its keynote speaker for the 2006 Congress of Automotive Repair and Service (CARS) to be held Nov. 2-4 at the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Tom Easton, senior partner with Essential Action Design Group, is slated to appear during the Nov. 4 CARS keynote luncheon. Mr. Easton's presentation, titled ``The Future is Getting Closer at CARS,'' will use humor, audience participation and personal stories to discuss customer service, manuevering through change and the fabric of success, the ASA said.
CARS is sponsored by the ASA's Mechanical Division and is part of Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week, held annually in Las Vegas in conjunction with the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and AAPEX shows. CARS features management seminars, technical courses, numerous networking opportunities and an exhibitor showcase.

Missouri TIA elects Flynn president
ST. LOUIS-The Missouri Tire Industry Association (MTIA) elected Dennis Flynn of Purcell Tire Co. as its president, replacing Bob Kotan of Tire Centers L.L.C., at its recent annual convention in St. Louis.
Other new officers are Jack Williams of Dobbs Tire & Auto Centers in High Ridge, Mo., president-elect, and Max Waddington of Shore Tire Co. in Lenexa, Kan., secretary. All will serve two-year terms.
Other highlights of the gathering included a presentation on industry trends by Bob Malerba, president of the Tire Industry Association (TIA), and the induction of Don Dobbs of Dobbs Tire into the MTIA Hall of Fame. Jon Rich, Goodyear North American Tire president, was on hand for Mr. Dobbs' induction and gave him a framed Chicago Bulls jersey autographed by Michael Jordan during the awards dinner.
