CLEVELAND (Sept. 12, 2006) — Alcoa Inc.'s Alcoa Forged Specialty Wheels unit has expanded its product guarantee to a lifetime limited warranty across its entire automotive aftermarket replacement wheel portfolio.
Under the new terms, Cleveland-based Alcoa has extended to the original purchaser a warranty for the life of the wheel. The company said it will remedy defects in materials or workmanship by repairing or replacing a defective product that fails in normal use and service.
The company said it puts all one-piece forged wheels through rigorous testing before marketing them. “Our OEM-based design, production and testing methods ensure the quality and integrity of our wheels,” said Brandon Stotsenburg, marketing director for Alcoa Forged Specialty Wheels. “As a result, we are confident Alcoa offers the strongest, most durable wheels available.”
The firm's new wheel warranty takes effect beginning with wheel purchases on or after Sept. 1. More details on its coverage are available at www.alcoawheels.com.
Alcoa also was recently selected as the official wheel of the Baja Protruck Off Road Race Series. The company said it continues to aggressively work with teams that compete in extreme rock crawling and rock racing. “Protruck and other forms of off road competition allow us to verify and demonstrate the strength of our aftermarket wheels,” Mr. Stotsenburg added.
To further promote the benefits of forged aluminum, Alcoa also launched a new positioning logo and tagline to the marketplace.
“We conducted a thorough analysis of the marketplace and measured the perceptions of forged aluminum wheels,” Mr. Stotsenburg said. “Alcoa forged alloy wheels containing the tagline 'Built Strong to Last a Lifetime' best reflects our commitment to making strong, durable wheels that our distributors, retailers and customers can count on.”
In addition to producing aluminum and fabricated aluminum products, Alcoa manages primary and alumina facilities and is active in the aerospace, automotive, packaging, building and construction, commercial transportation and industrial markets.
