FINDLAY, Ohio (Aug. 23, 2006) — Oliver Rubber Co. has introduced five specially designed treads aimed at trucking fleets.
Oliver, a Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. subsidiary that manufactures and distributes tread rubber and retreading systems, said its new XS-D tread is for off-road heavy load haulers. Featuring a compound called Xxtra-Tuff, the XS-D is designed for severe off-road service applications, providing solid traction, strength and durability, Oliver said.
The tread is available in 210mm (8.5N), 220mm (9), 230mm (9.5) and 240mm (10.5) sizes with a deep 30/32-inch tread depth, and is recommended where 70 percent or more off-road severe service is required, the firm said. It fits most tire sizes used on construction and specialty use vehicles, including 11R22.5, 11R24.5 and 315/80R22.5.
Oliver's new DPW (Drive Position Waste) tread, designed for on/off road applications, is molded with a new tread compound called Tri-Cor. According to the company, the DPW retread has the strength needed to resist chipping and cutting, offering a deep tread designed for 30 percent off road and 70 percent on road applications.
It is available in 210-250mm (8.5N-12) and 270mm (14) sizes with 26/32, 30/32 and 32/32-inch tread depths.
The company's new ULP (Ultra Low-Profile) single-wide treads—the ULP-Drive and the ULP-Rib—offer features including Vdiplus, which acts as a Visual Depth Indicator, plus a stone ejector that reduces retention of foreign objects in the tread face. Both treads offer V-shaped grooves and have eight circumferential grooves. The ULP-Rib has a 16/32-inch tread depth, Oliver said, while the ULP-Drive has a 24/32-inch tread depth. Both are designed to fit tire sizes 445/50R22.5 and 455/55R22.5.
The company claims its newly modified Winter Trac II tread design—offering premium wear mileage along with improved winter traction—is ideal for single or tandem axle drive tractors. Full-depth sipes provide enhanced ice, snow, mud and wet traction throughout the entire life of the tread, Oliver said.
Size coverage for the Winter Trac II includes 220mm (9), with 210mm (8.5N) available later this year.
