KENNEWICK, Wash. (Aug. 14, 2006) — Dick Nordness has returned to the Northwest Tire Dealers Association (NWTDA) as executive director, replacing Gene Tomich, who stepped down to resume a full-time career in farming.
After serving as executive director for 12 years, Mr. Nordness left the NWTDA in 2004 to work full time for the Washington Restaurant Association's membership development department. The NWTDA's executive director position is a part-time job, but Mr. Tomich decided he liked farming better, according to Mr. Nordness, who returned to the position June 15.
“I think that experience I got from the restaurant association will help me come back and do some things for the tire dealers association,” he said.
Although the NWTDA job is still a part-time position, Mr. Nordness said this time he plans to split his time between the association and a restaurant he and his wife own and operate. But with a tire industry career that began in 1968 at B.F. Goodrich Tire Co., Mr. Nordness said he's happy to return to the NWTDA.
“It's good to be back and work with folks that I've known for a number of years,” he said.
