AKRON (July 31, 2006) — DaimlerChrysler A.G. will outfit its 2007 Dodge Nitro mid-size sport-utility vehicle exclusively with Goodyear tires.
DaimlerChrysler will fit the base Nitro models with the S-rated Goodyear Wrangler ST in size P225/75R16 and the S-rated Wrangler HP in size P235/65R17, while the more powerful R/T models will come on P245/50R20 Wrangler HPs, also S-rated, Goodyear said. Export vehicles will be shipped with Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires.
The Nitro is based on the Jeep Liberty platform and will come with a 3.7-liter, 210-hp V-6 in the base and SLT models and a 4-liter, 225-hp V-6 in the R/T, according to Dodge literature. All models are four-wheel drive.
The Nitro, due in dealer showrooms during the third quarter, features five-passenger seating and a slide-out cargo floor for extra flexibility.
