For an act of bravery that possibly saved a man's life, Bridgestone/Firestone (BFS) presented Centralia High School with a $1,000 donation on May 9 during a school pep rally.
Members of the Centralia High School football team helped rescue Expert Tire team member Ed Marsh, who was pinned beneath a pickup truck when it fell from a jack. Expert Tire is part of BFS Retail & Commercial Operations L.L.C.
The team helped lift the truck so emergency rescue personnel could extract the injured worker. Mr. Marsh has been released from the hospital and was moved to a rehabilitation facility where he is continuing to improve, the company said.
Football team members were volunteering at Expert Tire for Keep America Beautiful/Keep Centralia Beautiful Clean and Green-part of the national Great American Cleanup, which BFS called the nation's largest community improvement program.
Both the Centralia High School football team and Expert Tire team members were honored with the Great American Cleanup Hometown Heroes Award for their quick thinking and bravery.
