VERNON, British Columbia (June 7, 2006) — Kal Tire has installed Shoplogix Plantnode management software to increase plant floor productivity at its retread plants, according to the software's developer Shoplogix Inc.
The software increases productivity by increasing operational visibility, raising operator awareness and providing real-time reporting to management, Shoplogix said. Kal Tire installed the software in 13 of the dealership's Bandag retread plants.
“Within the first day of deploying Plantnode, we identified measurable increases in our tire production and gained insight into key processes,” said John Mullin, senior vice president of supply chain for Kal Tire. “With increased visibility into operations, we have seen dramatic workflow improvements, accurate production counts and an increase in tire production.”
Vernon-based Kal Tire serves British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and parts of Quebec with more than 200 outlets. It operates 11 Bandag system truck tire retread plants and two plants dedicated to off-the-road tires.
