Amerityre Corp. and recreational boat builder Genmar Holdings Inc. are working together to develop a run-flat boat trailer tire based on Amerityre's proprietary polyurethane injection molding technology.
If the project bears fruit, Genmar would ``move expeditiously'' into commercial production of the tire for its own use and eventually to develop it for use on trailers other than for boats, according to Genmar Chairman and CEO Irwin Jacobs.
Amerityre and Genmar entered into a product development agreement in October and at the time said the project should be completed in about six months. Amerityre more recently said it now expects to complete the project by the end of June.
Minneapolis-based Genmar Holdings builds 16 different recreational boat lines-brand names such as Carver, Champion, Four Winns, Glastron, Hydra-Sports, Larson, Marquis, Ranger, Seaswirl, Stratos, Triumph and Wellcraft-at nine plants around the country, generating more than $1 billion in annual sales.
