RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (May 31, 2006) — Kumho Tire USA Inc. is building a new distribution center in McDonough, Ga., a suburb of Atlanta, to serve all of its dealers in the southeast U.S.
The 410,000-sq.-ft. building is slated to be completed next February.
The facility also will serve as a hub to distribute tires to Kumho warehouses in Columbus, Ohio, and Chicago, said David Hudrlik, vice president of sales and marketing for Kumho.
“Demand for our product continues to grow in the southeastern U.S.,” Mr. Hudrlik said in a statement. “This new warehouse will help us meet the demands of the marketplace and shorten the time it takes to get products to our customers.”
The tire maker will ship tires from its plants in Korea and China directly to the new facility, Mr. Hudrlik said.
Kumho executives in 2005 told dealers at an annual meeting that the tire maker wanted to expand its presence in Atlanta, among other expansion projects, to improve capacity.
