FINDLAY, Ohio (May 26, 2006) — The Cooper Tire Mobile Tour has added the SEC Baseball Tournament to its 2006 schedule.
Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. said the tour is slated to be one of the main attractions outside Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, Ala., through May 28. The tour also will incorporate several interactive events for fans, including hosting the awards ceremony for the 2nd Annual Texas Pete Tailgate Cook-off.
“We are pleased to have our long-time sponsor Cooper Tire add to the excitement of the SEC Baseball Tournament in this way,” said Tournament Director Charles Bloom. “SEC baseball is the best in the country and we encourage our fans to come out and enjoy all that the tournament has to offer.”
The SEC Tournament will follow an eight-team double elimination format that is modeled after the College World Series. The tournament field includes the top two teams from the SEC's Eastern and Western Divisions plus four at-large bids based on conference winning percentages. The 2005 SEC Baseball Tournament drew 119,580 fans—the third highest total attendance in the event's history.
The Cooper Tire Mobile Tour features XBox gaming systems, interactive racing simulators and a sound system accompanied by twin 45-inch flat-panel televisions.
The 2006 mobile tour's product focus is Cooper Zeon ultra-high performance tires, including the 2XS, ZPT, XST and new Sport A/S, Findlay-based Cooper said.
