ROCHESTER, N.Y. (May 23, 2006) — Monro Muffler Brake Inc. has promoted Joseph Tomarchio Jr. to president, tire group, overseeing the firm's growing tire retail store presence.
Mr. Tomarchio, 50, has been with Monro since 2004 when the Rochester-based retailer bought the Mr. Tire retail nework in Maryland and Virginia from Mile One Automotive, a new car dealership group.
With the recent acquisition of ProCare Automotive, Monro's network of tire format stores has grown to 115, with the conversion of most of the 100-store Strauss Discount Auto stores still looming.
Monro plans to convert 31 of the 75 ProCare outlets in Ohio and Pennsylvania to the Mr. Tire format, and the firm will look at converting some existing Monro Muffler outlets in those areas—Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio and Pittsburgh—once it has had an opportunity to evaluate those conversions, according to Robert Gross, president and CEO.
Mr. Tomarchio most recently was divisional vice president—tire stores. He was a co-founder, with his brother Fred Tomarchio, of Mr. Tire in 1970.
