EVANSVILLE, Ind. (May 17, 2006) — Business Insurance magazine has named Ryan Brown, director of risk management and fleet operations for Raben Tire Co. Inc., to its “Risk Management Honor Roll” for 2005.
Mr. Brown, 29, was selected for the honor because of his innovative use of risk management, loss control and insurance programs at Raben Tire, where he has worked since 2001.
Mr. Brown was chosen by an independent panel of nine judges selected by Business Insurance—a sister publication of Tire Business under the Crain Communications Inc. umbrella.
The judges choose the winners based on a number of criteria, including innovative use of diverse risk management and insurance tools, creative and effective use of insurance markets and achieving the most effective program at the optimum cost, Raben Tire said.
During his tenure with Raben Tire, Mr. Brown instituted programs that helped the Evansville-based commercial dealership drive workers' compensation costs down to about $135,000 last year from nearly $1 million in 2000 and cut lost-time work days to 0.8 days per worker last year from 17.2 in 1998, Business Insurance reported.
The publication honored Mr. Brown and others at a luncheon held in their honor during the recent annual conference of the Risk & Insurance Management Society in Honolulu. He was one of two individuals given Honor Roll status; Debra Griffith, former director of risk insurance and risk management for Boys Scouts of America, was named “Risk Manager of the Year.”
