GREENVILLE, S.C. (May 11, 2006) — Michelin North America Inc.'s earthmover tire unit is launching a safety training program to all market segments to highlight tire safety issues.
First introduced in 2004 to address mine safety, the program will be expanded to cover all segments that use earthmover tires, Michelin said.
The safety program is designed to explain best safety practices to managers, maintenance personnel, equipment operators and support staff in construction and ports and terminals businesses as well as mines. Earthmover field sales team members, the safety team at the business site or an authorized Michelin dealer can deliver the safety message.
The program includes 12 one-hour modules.
“A stronger tire safety plan can help significantly reduce unsafe incidents and improve productivity,” said John Funke, director of marketing for Michelin Earthmover Tires. “This program will give personnel at all levels the knowledge and tools needed to create a safer work environment, which will also help reduce costly repairs and machinery downtime.”
