WASHINGTON (May 10, 2006) — Continental Automotive Systems is undertaking a nationwide tour, its second since 2003, to promote its Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system and other vehicle safety equipment.
At the crux of the tour is Conti's refurbished exhibition tractor-trailer with revamped features, including interactive displays and a virtual-reality ride-and-drive exhibit demonstrating how the ESC system improves vehicle safety.
“We are in the business of designing and producing products that help prevent crashes and save lives,” said Bill Kozyra, president and CEO of Continental Automotive Systems North America, at the tour's launch in Washington today. “Educating consumers about why they are important and how they work is fundamental to what we do.”
Speakers from the National Transportation Safety Board, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute sang the praises of ESC. “ESC is in a rare league,” said Russ Rader, director of media relations for the IIHS. “Only safety belts and air bags provide the life-saving protection that ESC does.”
