AKRON (May 8, 2006) — Armex Inc. has received a $34,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for continuing research and development on its patented Krumbuster crumb rubber mill.
Armex—which has been refurbishing tire cracker mills since its founding in 1948—decided in 2000 to develop a smaller, more productive and more fuel-efficient mill, which in time became the Krumbuster, according to Armex President Mark Hausman.
The company will hire two new employees on account of the ODNR grant, for a grand total of 10, Mr. Hausman said. The ODNR awarded a total of $1,451,985 worth of grants for 2006 to strengthen Ohio's scrap tire recycling efforts, according to the agency.
