Shanghai General Motors Co. Ltd., General Motors Corp.'s Chinese subsidiary, has named Maxxis International a ``Best Supplier'' for 2005, the sixth consecutive Shanghai GM award for Maxxis.
Shanghai GM selects its winners based on technology, quality, price, delivery and service, Maxxis said. The Taiwanese tire maker was one of only six companies out of nearly 200 suppliers recognized, the firm said.
Shanghai GM is a 50-50 joint venture involving GM and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation Group, making vehicles-mostly Buick models-engines and transmissions.
Maxxis, also known as Cheng Shin Rubber Industry Co. Ltd., did not say which tires it supplies to Shanghai GM.
Maxxis is scheduled to begin supplying GM in North America a Maxxis-brand light truck tire, size LT 225/75R16, in the third quarter of 2006.
