DEARBORN, Mich. (May 5, 2006)—Hankook Tire Co. Ltd. earned Ford Motor Co.'s highest supplier quality award for 2005 at a presentation in Dearborn this week.
Hankook, an original equipment tire supplier to Ford since 2004, earned Ford's Gold Award for superior quality, cost and delivery for its Taejon, South Korea, plant. It was one of only 13 gold award winners and the only tire company recognized for any award this year.
Hankook is one of only two tire makers recognized thus far by Ford as “strategic” supplier partners under its Aligned Business Framework program designed to strengthen collaboration and develop a sustainable business model to drive mutual profitability and technology development.
“Our World Excellence Award-winning suppliers are integral in our ability to address the needs of our customers today and tomorrow,” said Thomas Brown, senior vice president, Global Purchasing, at ceremonies in Dearborn. “We are grateful for their ceaseless concentration on delivering value.”
Ford also honored wheel suppliers Ronal Iberica S.A., Teruel, Spain, and Wheels India Ltd., Chennai, India, with its gold and silver awards, respectively.
