WARREN, Mich. (May 3, 2006) – General Motors Corp. recognized tire makers Bridgestone Corp. and GITI Tire (China) Investment Co. Ltd. recently as suppliers of the year for 2005.
GM made the awards at ceremonies held recently at its Vehicle Engineering Center in Warren. In all, GM recognized 85 suppliers for providing it with “world-class parts and services.”
“GM needs suppliers capable of working with the auto maker in all markets, by providing world-class quality, delivery and landed cost,” said Bo Andersson, vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain.
The GM Supplier of the Year program began in 1992. Each year a global team of purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics executives determines the winners based on performance in quality, service, technology and price.
This is the 10th GM award for Bridgestone in the past 11 years.
