FINDLAY, Ohio, (May 2, 2006) — Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has announced its team of drifters for the Need for Speed Formula Drift (Formula D) series.
Headlining the 2006 squad is Casper “Da Ghost” Canul who placed 16th overall in 2005 along with Matt Vassallo and Rob Fleming from Team Enjuku, both of whom placed in the top 20 overall last year out of hundreds of contenders.
“We are excited about our drifting contingency program that provides us the opportunity to attract and sponsor top-notch drivers,” said Chris Pantani, director of ultra-high performance marketing and business development for Cooper. “Casper, Matt and Rob are all very well-respected throughout the sport, and we're looking forward to their success on Cooper tires.”
Cooper will supply its drivers with a mix of Cooper Zeon 2XS, Cooper Zeon ZPT and Cooper Zeon Sport A/S tires.
In addition to these headliners, Cooper also sponsors drivers from across the U.S. with varying levels of experience. These drifters include Tony Angelo, Nathan Brasz, Lance Girrokk, Todd Ho, Bryan Rogers and Ryan Tureck.
