CYPRESS, Calif. (May 1, 2006) — Toyo Tires (U.S.A.) Corp. has signed on as the official tire of “The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift,” the second sequel to the hit street-racing movies of several years back.
The latest flick is set “in the sexy and colorful underground world of Japanese drift racing,” according to Cypress-based Toyo, where “the newest and fastest customized rides go head-to-head on some of the most perilous courses in the world.”
As in the previous two “Fast and Furious” movies, many of the upcoming movie's sport compact tuner cars were equipped with Toyo's Proxes ultra-high performance tires.
Toyo is partnering with Universal Pictures in promotional activities centering on both the movie and subsequent DVD. Dana Zamalloa, Toyo's senior marketing communications manager, said the company is proud to be associated with the trilogy of movies. “Our company strongly supports the car culture, and this new movie promises to be very exciting with the inclusion of the popular sport of drifting.”
The new flick is scheduled to hit the silver screen June 16. Toyo said it will run promotions in conjunction with the film. More information is available on the tire maker's Web site at www.toyo.com.
